In order to understand the technical devices better, these devices are provided with various lights on them. The lights represent the current status of the device. There are lights on Orbi as well. By knowing Orbi light colors meaning you can know its current status. This article is meant to help you understand what it means to have a blue light on your Netgear Orbi. Seeing a pulsing blue light on the Netgear Orbi router means the internet connection is blocked. While the blue light on the Orbi satellite means the connection between the Orbi router and the satellite is good. However, if the ring LED on the satellite remains solid blue for a longer period of time, this means something is wrong with the connection between the router and the satellite.
How to Fix Orbi Blue Light Issue?
- Reboot Orbi
Begin by rebooting the Netgear Orbi. Simply power off the entire Orbi WiFi home system and wait for at least 5 minutes before turning it on. Make sure you unplug the devices from the power sockets. Though this process seems very simple it has the capability to fix major issues. Do as suggested and once the Orbi is powered up, check if the Orbi blue light whether on the router or the satellite has gone. If the system is repaired and there is no more blue light then you are good to go. On the off chance you are still troubled by it, try the next hack.
- Disconnect Extra Devices
If it is the Orbi router that is showing blue color, then, as mentioned earlier, this is due to the excessive network traffic. So, disconnect some devices from its network and reduce the network traffic. This will help you fix the Orbi blue light issue on the router.
- Bring devices Closer
We told you previously that the ring light on the Orbi satellite will turn solid blue when the satellite and router are synced properly. But the blue light should disappear soon. If the blue light remains for longer than usual, then try to bring the Orbi satellite closer to the router. Plug it here into an available wall socket. Once the satellite is powered up completely, try syncing them again. Once they are synced, the blue light should appear and then disappear soon. But if the blue light stays forever, then this means the issue has not been fixed yet. Try the next hack in such an event.
- Check Power Connection
Perhaps the power supply to the Orbi devices i.e. router and the satellite is not proper. If this is the case, the devices won’t sync. So check the power sockets that are being used to supply power to both the router and satellite. Also, check their power cables. If the cables are loose then also the power supply will fluctuate. We suggest you make the required changes and ensure that both the router and satellite are receiving an adequate power supply. Once you are sure about it, try syncing the devices again.
- Verify Internet Connection
Another possible cause for the devices unable to sync issue is a poor internet connection. Maybe the connection between the router and the host modem is not stable which is why the router is not receiving good internet signals and hence the blue light issue. What we suggest you do now is check the connection between the router and modem. Make sure they are connected using a flawless Ethernet cable. However, if they are connected using a wireless source, then the distance between them should not be more than necessary.
- Update Firmware
In the event you haven’t updated your Netgear Orbi for a long time, then this could be the possible reason for the blue ring light on Orbi. It is now time that you update the firmware on your Orbi system. For manually updating Orbi, you need to download the firmware file on your PC first. After that, access the Orbi admin panel by using the Orbi admin login credentials and then install firmware on both the satellite and router.
To Sum Up
As soon as you update the firmware on your Netgear Orbi WiFi mesh system, we are very sure that the blue light would have left you for good. We recommend you keep an eye on the firmware updates released by Netgear. Whenever there is an update ready for your Orbi, get it installed immediately.
